Do-it-yourselfers
Create Your own Landscape Bed in 7 Easy Steps.
  1. Lay out a garden hose or some other flexible line along the proposed outline of the landscape bed you want to create
  2. Paint along this outline with marker paint and remove the garden hose or cord.
(Marker Paint is a spray paint can design to be used upside down).
  3. Spray any grass or plant you want to kill in the landscape bed area with Roundup.
  4. Rent our Bed Edger and edge the landscape bed in about an hour.
OR dig out the edges yourself by hand (Very tough).

Tip:  You want a uniform V-Shaped Trough that has a straight edge on the outside of the bed and a sloping edge into the garden bed. Make the V Shape cut around 5-8" deep.

  5. Rake the excess dirt into the  bed interior.
  6. For beds along the house:

Buy extra topsoil and mound towards house for drainage
    (high point against house)

For Beds standing away from the house with new trees or shrubs you are planting:

Mound additional topsoil to peak in the center of the bed where the new tree is to be planted.

For Beds standing away from the house with existing trees or shrubs:

Don't pile extra topsoil on existing plants or trees. Skip this step.

  7. Add Mulch the bed to a depth of 3 - 4 inches

This is our bed edger in action. You pull it backwards to make the edge. It throws the extra dirt into the interior of your new garden bed. You get a uniform v shaped cut without all the back bending shovel and spade work.
